It is encouraging to see physicians’ recognizing the need to look at the social issues which are causing so much ill health today. But also for me personally, a senior, there needs to be more done to improve the lives of residents in long term care homes. Right now the staffing is inadequate so residents are forced to wear diapers; too many are over medicated with anti-psychotics to keep less troublesome so quality of life is not as it should be. Sadly administrators blame the lack of government funding, but perhaps some of it is the way the funds are spent and how much profit is allowed to be made by the homes?
